Star Wars, man.
For quite some time, I had been working on this Star Wars painting my cousin requested. I'll be honest, I don't really know anything about Star Wars. Actually, I'm surprised that I do know as much as I do. Anyway, when he told me what he wanted, I was really excited to start. I was also very wary. This would be one of the largest pieces I have done! It also would be a first in painting portraits. I wanted to get it spot on. So, I set my fears aside and accepted the challenge.
There were definitely times when I just wanted to give up. I'm a perfectionist and very impatient at that, so sometimes I felt like I was going to pull my hair out every time I looked at that piece. I'd think, "Okay, I am done! I finished!" and then an hour or so later I would glance at it and see SO many things I felt like I needed to fix//change. Regardless, it was a great journey in art and I enjoyed it overall. I got to experiment and challenge myself. Seeing his reaction when I gave it to him on his birthday was SO worth it too! I felt so blessed. That was priceless.
In progress:
Salt and acrylics
Finished:
It feels good to finish a piece this big. I usually start on so many different pieces and they all end up half-finished laying around my bedroom. I felt a tiny little weight lift off my shoulders! Now, onto a Victorian//steampunk piece! :)
