A Quick Roadtrip: Day One

The other day I set off for my hometown once again, and I just realized that I have been there quite a lot since moving to Nashville. It's kind of nice, but it's also really exhausting going back and forth so much. There's definitely a long break ahead of. Until the annual Fall Festival, of course.

I wasn't really in town very long. My friend and I, with her sister and a friend, made yet another road trip up to Indianapolis for a concert. Yeah, a Jonas Brothers concert. Don't judge. The last time I saw them, I think I was about twelve or thirteen years old... So, it was a pretty fun, nostalgic time down memory lane. Oh, to be a tween again... I might be just a little sarcastic saying that. ;)

We went to the four story mall with constellations above our heads to kill time, acted like totally lost tourists, and had not only some seriously delicious burgers, but those sweet potato waffle fries? I am still dreaming about them. They. Were. So. Good. The place we ate at was called Bub's, the home of the big ugly burger... The setting was very relaxed and seemed like the perfect summer joint to hang at.

We stayed outside of Indy in a little place called Carmel. We had dinner in the Art & Design District, and let me tell you, that place was really neat. There were statues all along the strip, most of them looking like citizens of the town. When we first pulled in, we mistakened the statue of a police officer holding his hand out and what appeared to be a woman carrying her groceries for real people! Ha! There as one of a man playing a violin with an open case holding fake dollar bills outside of a music shop, a woman smoking a pipe on a bench, a child watering flowers... But my favorite was the statue of the two icons in the famous photograph, The Kiss. I kind of flipped out in the car when I saw it and told everyone that I HAD to get out to take a picture of it. I also really loved the woman who seemed to be floating amongst flowers. I am definitely taking more pictures next time I visit.

Oh yeah, and the Jonas Brothers. They're back. My teeny-bopper self is pleased. My more grown-up self is pleased too, because their new jams have seemed to evolved from the boy band stage into music that can be enjoyed by a more mature age. I also saw Karmin, which I didn't know was playing, so that was pretty cool, too.
