Tea Milkshake Series// 1. Chai
Over the past year or so, I've gotten more into drinking tea. Growing up, sweet tea was a big thing in my house. My mom introduced "sleepy-time tea" to me when I was younger and had a hard time falling asleep at night. Not too long ago, I discovered all of the different varieties there are! I love shopping for tea. Chai is one of my all time favorites. I was thinking of how the flavor could go well in any baking recipe such as cupcakes, cookies, cake... And then I thought, hey, what about ice cream? What about a milkshake?
This recipe is from Frugal Granola.
Ingredients:
1 Chai tea bag
1/2 cup milk
1 cup vanilla ice cream
(Makes one)
Instead of using water, I used milk, as the directions called for, to make the tea. Just let the milk get hot enough to steep your tea. Don't let it come to a boil. I wouldn't even let it simmer, in my opinion, because the milk gets a weird... layer over the top. I don't know how to explain it, really.
Steep the tea bag for about ten minutes to get the full flavor. Once you're done with that, set the tea/milk combination in the freezer. When the mixture is cooled, it's time to make your shake! Add the ice cream and tea/milk to a blender and blend until smooth! Add more ice cream if desired! Even sprinkle some cinnamon on top!
I'll be trying new flavors for tea-shakes and will be posting about them! I think this will be a fun little series. :)
Cheers!
